Blackrock targets Boomers with most boring Bitcoin commercial ever

Crypto fans were thrilled to welcome a new generation of investors as a Bitcoin ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) was officially launched last week.

But what they didn’t know is that the rock and roll of Bitcoin & Crypto (just think of the unofficial Bitcoin song ‘pump it up‘ for example) would be replaced by the most boring ads ever.

Boooooring

Crypto and Bitcoin have long been regarded as outsiders in the world of finance. But now that companies such as Blackrock and Van Eck offer Bitcoin ETFs, it seems that some adjustments need to be made.

Blackrock in particular, the largest investment fund in the world, is very convinced of the potential of such an ETF for its clients. They seem to especially target the Boomer generation’s money. You can deduce that when you see the advertisement for the Blackrock ETF.

A man talks about Bitcoin’s past from an office setting and calmly explains how investing via Blackrock is possible. An upbeat new age music tune plays in the background while the reasons for investing in Bitcoin are explained as being a good decision.

“This is how you market to rich boomers, folks. The calm disposition, easy to understand investment case, soft new age music, suit with no tie.. everything about it says “it’s ok now, the adults are here,” said Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas

We have clearly come a long way from a few years ago when a mashup video of Elon Musk and Michael Saylor in a sort of ‘Lord of the Rings’ tribute video went viral with every new Bitcoin bull run.

Bitwise also recently launched an advertising campaign for their Bitcoin ETF.

They were clearly looking for a mix of ‘interesting’ and ‘known to Boomers’ and ended up hiring Jonathan Goldsmith, the actor mostly known for his role as the “the Most Interesting Man in the World” in the Dos Equis beer advertising campaigns.
